The First Exposé
A Pattern of Harassment, Retaliation, Surveillance, and Constructive Eviction by JM, ZM, and MM
Introduction
This document details the ongoing pattern of harassment, intimidation, retaliation, surveillance, deprivation of services, and interference with daily living experienced by our family while residing at this house that I will refer to as "24115."
What began as a family housing arrangement has become a prolonged campaign of hostility that has affected every aspect of our lives. The actions described below have not been isolated incidents. Rather, they form a continuous pattern of conduct carried out by JM and enabled, supported, or directly participated in by property owners ZM and MM.
The conduct has affected our physical health, emotional well-being, ability to use the home, ability to access essential facilities, ability to receive mail, ability to prepare meals, and ability to live peacefully and safely.
How We Came To Live Here
In January 2023, our family moved into the property after being encouraged to do so by ZM and MM, who are also family members.
Before moving, we had already been approved for another apartment in the same building. We ultimately turned that opportunity down because ZM and MM repeatedly assured us that this home would be a stable and supportive living arrangement—needless to say, they lied. We were told we could stay as long as necessary and were led to believe we would be living in a safe environment among family members who cared about our well-being.
We relied on those promises, and the fact that it was FAMILY making these promises, when making the decision to move.
Once we moved in, however, the reality was drastically different from what had been represented to us.
Over time, the atmosphere within the home became increasingly hostile. Rather than receiving support from family members, we found ourselves subjected to ongoing surveillance, intimidation, retaliation, restrictions on our access to basic facilities, and repeated attempts to make our living situation intolerable.
A Campaign of Surveillance and Monitoring
One of the most disturbing aspects of our experience has been the constant monitoring of our activities.
A camera was installed in the living room without our consent or prior knowledge. We only became aware of its existence after noticing the indicator light.
When questioned about the camera, ZM gave multiple contradictory explanations regarding why it had been installed. At various times she claimed it was for the dog, to see who entered the house, and because JM allegedly did not feel safe.
The explanations changed repeatedly, but one thing remained constant: the camera appeared to be used primarily to watch us.
The indicator light would frequently become active when we entered common areas. In addition, comments later made by the landlords demonstrated knowledge of activities that could only have been observed through the camera feed.
The surveillance extended beyond the camera.
JM routinely watches family members whenever they leave their bedrooms. She follows movements throughout the house, positions herself in common areas when we enter them, and frequently monitors our activities for no apparent reason.
On November 8, 2025, after hearing us enter the kitchen at approximately 4:30 a.m. to get water, JM immediately came into the kitchen, turned on all of the lights, sat at the table watching us, and remained there until we finished. Once we returned upstairs, she turned off the lights behind us.
On numerous occasions she has openly recorded family members with her cellphone while they collected packages, groceries, laundry, or other personal belongings.
Rather than feeling like tenants in our own home, we have felt as though every movement is being watched.
Verbal Abuse and Intimidation
The surveillance has been accompanied by repeated verbal abuse.
JM has repeatedly referred to us as "bums," "scammers," and other insulting names. These comments have often been made in common areas where they could clearly be heard.
Following a GoFundMe created by a family friend to help us relocate from the property, JM and her parents accused us of being liars and scammers because the fundraiser described the conditions we were experiencing.
When family members were leaving to visit Victim C in the hospital during a sickle cell crisis, JM remarked that she did not know where they were going "when they couldn't pay rent" before slamming the door behind them.
The message was clear: our medical emergencies did not matter.
Throughout our tenancy, JM's behavior has frequently relied upon humiliation and intimidation rather than direct confrontation. The goal appears to be making us feel unwelcome, uncomfortable, and constantly on edge.
False Eviction Threats and Pressure to Leave
Long before any lawful eviction process was completed, the landlords repeatedly attempted to pressure us into leaving.
In 2024, ZM threatened that she and MM would fly to New York and throw us out onto the street if rent was not paid.
In May 2025, ZM told Victim A that marshals would arrive and remove us from the home, despite no eviction warrant having been issued.
At the same time, Victim C was hospitalized for a sickle cell crisis.
Rather than expressing concern for a hospitalized family member, ZM and MM instructed the family to leave the keys behind and remove belongings from the property.
These actions created fear, stress, and uncertainty while we were already dealing with significant medical challenges.
Restricting Access to Essential Facilities
One of the most damaging forms of harassment involved restricting our access to facilities we had originally been allowed to use.
After moving into the home, access to the basement and basement bathroom was eventually taken away.
The second bathroom was also effectively removed from our use.
This left our family dependent upon a single shared bathroom while JM retained access to another bathroom downstairs.
This created serious hardship because Victim B suffers from disabilities resulting from previous strokes and experiences urinary incontinence.
Rather than accommodating these medical realities, JM routinely occupied the only remaining bathroom available to us for extended periods of time.
On one occasion she remained inside for approximately three hours.
On another occasion, after seeing our family arrive home, she immediately rushed into the bathroom before anyone else could use it.
On June 13, 2026, Victim B urgently needed access to the bathroom. JM entered before he could use it and remained inside singing, washing her face, and taking her time despite being informed that he needed access. When Victim A attempted to explain the situation, JM slammed the door.
Eventually the situation became so severe that we had to purchase a bedside urinal and portable commode for use inside our living space.
No family should be forced into that situation.
Interference with Daily Living
The harassment extended into nearly every aspect of daily life.
JM routinely removed or hid common household items such as dish soap, sponges, utensils, bathroom supplies, scales, and other necessities.
She removed the toilet paper holder from the bathroom and repeatedly refused to replace toilet paper.
Laundry access was removed.
Internet access was cut off.
Belongings stored in the basement were relocated without permission.
Mail and packages were intentionally mishandled.
These incidents may appear minor when viewed individually, but together they created a living environment where even basic daily tasks became unnecessarily difficult.
Mail Tampering and Package Interference
For months, JM intentionally left our packages outside while bringing in her own deliveries.
If both households received mail on the same day, she would collect hers and leave ours exposed outdoors.
She also stopped placing our mail on the shared ledge where household mail had traditionally been left and instead threw it onto our shoes.
On May 15, 2026, she opened one of our packages without permission.
Because of the repeated interference with mail, we have concerns that important correspondence may not have reached us, including a court notice for an October 2025 hearing that we never received.
Creating an Atmosphere of Fear and Discomfort
The hostile behavior often appeared designed to force us into our bedrooms.
Whenever we attempted to use common areas, JM would frequently appear shortly afterward.
On April 18, 2026, after Victim A entered the kitchen to fill a water bottle, JM immediately came upstairs, sat down nearby, and stared at her. When Victim A attempted to avoid confrontation by moving into another room, JM began blasting loud music. As soon as Victim A finished and left, the music stopped.
These incidents occurred repeatedly.
Over time, we stopped feeling comfortable using common areas.
Eventually we began preparing and eating meals in our bedrooms because using the kitchen often resulted in confrontation, surveillance, or intimidation.
This negatively affected our nutrition and had a particularly harmful impact on Victim B, who is diabetic.
Noise Harassment
Loud music became another recurring tool of harassment.
JM frequently played music at excessive volume levels during early morning hours, late evenings, and whenever family members attempted to use common spaces.
On March 23, 2026, after returning from a vacation in Panama, she spent the day playing loud music, stomping, dancing, yelling, and creating disturbances throughout the house despite knowing family members were attempting to rest.
In many instances, speakers were deliberately positioned facing our bedrooms.
The timing and repetition of these incidents strongly suggest that the behavior was intended to disturb rather than entertain.
Health Consequences
- The impact of this conduct cannot be overstated.
- Victim C suffers from sickle cell disease and has been advised by physicians to avoid stress because stress can trigger medical crises requiring hospitalization.
- Victim B is disabled, diabetic, visually impaired, and suffers from complications resulting from prior strokes.
- Victim A is deaf and has developed severe anxiety requiring treatment and medication.
- The constant tension, surveillance, intimidation, sleep disruption, restricted access to facilities, and inability to comfortably use the home have had significant consequences for our family's physical and emotional health.
Conclusion
- Taken together, these events demonstrate much more than ordinary household disagreements.
- They reveal a sustained pattern of conduct designed to isolate, intimidate, pressure, and ultimately force our family from the home.
- The surveillance, verbal abuse, deprivation of services, interference with mail, restriction of bathroom access, intimidation tactics, noise disturbances, and repeated disregard for our medical conditions all point toward the same objective: making our living situation so unbearable that we would leave on our own.
- For years, we have attempted to endure these conditions while seeking legal assistance, medical care, and alternative housing. Despite these efforts, the harassment has continued.
- The incidents described herein are not isolated events. They are part of a continuous and escalating pattern of behavior that has affected nearly every aspect of our daily lives. As of writing this, we are still facing these issues and have not been able to secure a place to live, despite how much we try.
